Registered Nurses in the Pre-Op/PACU unit facilitate patient care across a 36-bed pre-op area and 12-bay PACU, supporting a facility with 17 OR suites and an average volume of 30+ cases per day. They work in teams of 6 or more per shift and are expected to float between the main OR and the surgery center to provide continuous coverage. Responsibilities span perioperative nursing, including pre-op calls and Pre-Admission Testing (PATs), coordinating patient transports, and managing clinical recovery. Pre-Op RNs recover Phase II patients; PACU RNs recover Phase I, with occasional support for recoveries from other hospital departments. The role facilitates communication and collaboration among the healthcare team, patient, and family to meet patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. It promotes patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, in keeping with patient care standards, guidelines, the State Nurse Practice Act, relationship-based care, and the organization’s mission. The position is at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado, a Level I Trauma Center. The hospital offers a wide range of medical specialties and services and is the home base for Flight For Life Colorado. The facility has four trauma rooms, including a dedicated field-to-surgery suite available 24/7. It received Magnet designation in 2023. The schedule is 36 hours per week, with variable shifts and days based on unit volume and need; details are to be determined with the unit manager during interviews. Call is required for one to two shifts per six-week schedule, with a 60-minute call-back radius. The employer offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus and up to $10,000 in relocation assistance to eligible new hires.
