Registered Nurse-Progressive Care, Part Time Nights
About The Position
Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. The 6VP unit is a Progressive Adult ICU unit with 48 beds. The care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 but may vary. Patients include acute Adult and Geriatric patients. The unit treats total body system disorders, including Telemetry Monitoring, Respiratory Treatments (Bipap/Cpap/High Flow), Chest tubes/Tracheostomies, Critical Drips, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Acute Renal Failure, Sepsis, Post Surgical/Trauma, Post Cerebrovascular Accident, Pre and Post Cardiac Cath Procedures, Post Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug Therapy, Pre and Post Angioplasty and Stent Placement, and Pre and Post AICD/Pacemaker placement. The unit does not perform drips, vents, or treat patients with open CABGs.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Must complete Clinical Ladder packet and be approved for RN II, RN III, RN IV
- Telemetry Monitoring
- Respiratory Treatments (Bipap/Cpap/High Flow)
- Chest tubes/Tracheostomies
- Administer Critical Drips

- Sepsis

- Pre and Post AICD/Pacemaker placement
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
- Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
