About The Position

In this role, you will provide compassionate nursing care, administer treatments and medications, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, develop care plans, educate patients and families, and promote safe, high-quality outcomes. This position is for PRN (as needed) with variable shifts. The role involves utilizing the nursing process, administering medications and treatments, performing assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. Documentation is performed according to standards. The nurse develops and executes patient care plans, including patient and family education, and participates in performance improvement activities. They also provide clinical expertise to other units, escalate patient safety concerns, and engage in the professional nursing continuum process. The role encourages offering ideas for practice issues, using innovative methods for care plans and education, and initiating interdisciplinary collaboration. Mentoring and precepting new staff, influencing the professional environment, and engaging in continuous learning and development are also key aspects. Participation in at least one departmental or unit performance improvement activity is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.
  • May include color blind test (per department guidelines).

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
  • Documents according to standards of care.
  • Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and-or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and-or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
  • Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
  • Offers ideas and-or solutions to practice issues.
  • Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
  • Provides innovative ways to educate patient-families.
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
  • Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
  • Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
  • Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
