About The Position
This Registered Nurse (RN) position is in the Adult Hematology & Oncology Clinic at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. The role involves providing meaningful, relationship-based care in an outpatient setting, supporting patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. The clinic operates with 8-hour day shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with staggered start/end times, offering a rotating day off and no weekends, holidays, or call. This is a 0.8 FTE position, equating to 64 hours per two weeks.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing or higher
- Active RN license in Wisconsin (upon hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of RN experience
- Strong communication and care-coordination skills
- Comfort in supporting patients navigating complex treatments
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the journey of our patients as they go through chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other treatments
- Conduct phone triage, coordinate care, and provide patient/family education
- Collaborate with colleagues from Radiation Oncology, Infusion Services, Lab, Pathology, Surgical Departments, and Palliative Care to give comprehensive care to our patients, both in La Crosse and our outreach service lines, including Tomah Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders
