About The Position

The Registered Nurse will work on a high-acuity floor serving a diverse patient population, including surgical patients and people with severe trauma such as gunshot wounds, quadriplegia, and paraplegia. The role requires experienced nursing care in a fast-paced setting for patients with complex medical needs. Nurses manage a 5:1 patient ratio and collaborate with support staff to provide efficient care. The position requires flexible, variable shifts; block scheduling and scheduled time-off requests are unavailable.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in surgery and trauma nursing.
• BLS certification.
• Proficiency with the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Ability and willingness to work variable shifts without scheduled time-off requests.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care to surgical patients and patients with severe trauma, including gunshot wounds, quadriplegia, and paraplegia.
• Manage patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1.
• Collaborate with phlebotomists and unit secretaries to support efficient patient management.
• Coordinate effective handoffs with Emergency Department nursing staff and admitting units to support smooth transitions in care.
