About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides quality care through direct and/or indirect care of assigned patients, using professional nursing skills and knowledge. The role is on the MG2 Telemetry unit at St. Mary Medical Center, where patients are tele-monitored and the nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1 to 6:1. The unit has approximately 48 beds, including double rooms. This is a full-time night-shift position, scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
• Pennsylvania RN license.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ learning needs and readiness to learn, identify actual or potential barriers, and incorporate patient education into daily activities based on age and cultural and spiritual values.
• Document admission assessments and reassessments, plans, interventions, and medication use, and monitor their effects and outcomes according to policy.
• Use the information management system to enhance communication and document changes in patients’ conditions for appropriate individuals.
• Prioritize work assignments based on changing situations.
• Communicate the transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during interprofessional rounds.
• Recognize and integrate patients’ special needs, individualize care, and identify abuse and make appropriate referrals.
• Include pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.
• Follow infection-control standards specific to patient care and promote and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
