RN- Med Surg Float Pool 36 hours nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the Med-Surg Float Pool at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital provides patient care on a night schedule of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., 36 hours per week. The nurse interprets plans of medical care, assesses patients’ clinical needs and nursing care requirements, delivers safe and competent individualized care, and evaluates care for groups of patients. This role requires patient care and is onsite at 789 Central Avenue. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to nurses with one or more years of experience; Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Mass General Brigham employees are not eligible. Pay is based on experience, with a listed hourly range of $38.71–$53.29.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Nursing required; a bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Experience cannot be substituted for a degree.
- Registered Nurse state license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Clinical nursing experience of 0–1 year required.
- Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing and patient care and treatment.
- Knowledge of care required for the age groups served.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient reports and records.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects.
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, document, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans based on patients’ responses to treatment and changes in their conditions.
- Assess patients’ clinical needs and nursing care requirements, provide individualized nursing care, and evaluate care for groups of patients.
