About The Position

The Med Surg Float Pool Registered Nurse is accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessing patients’ clinical needs and nursing care requirements, ensuring safe and competent nursing care, providing individualized patient care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. This role provides direct patient care at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and is scheduled for 24 hours per week, with a stated night schedule of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The position is onsite.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Registered Nurse state license required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Clinical nursing experience of 0–1 year required.
• Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
• Knowledge of care required by the age groups for which care is provided.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient reports and records.
• Administer medications and monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, document, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans based on patients’ responses to treatment and changes in their conditions.
