About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the RN coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates with team members, patients, and their families or significant others. The role maintains high standards of professional ethics. This is a full-time, on-site position at Virtua’s Voorhees location, working 12-hour night shifts for 36 hours per week. Labor and Delivery, maternal-child health, or obstetrics experience is required.

Requirements

Labor and Delivery, maternal-child health, or obstetrics experience is required.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license, which must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board.
Keep nursing skills current through ongoing education, journals, and other learning.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimes.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
Coordinate patient care and collaborate with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
