Registered Nurse-Medical-Weekend Option
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for SIH patients. The role involves assessing patients’ mental, physical, and spiritual needs; collaborating with the multidisciplinary health care team to develop and carry out an individual plan of care; and supporting patients and families with compassionate care, education, and advocacy. The nurse also uses clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize and report changes in patient condition, documents care accurately and promptly, contributes to patient-safety and quality-of-care policies and procedures, and supervises or delegates work to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel. Required education, competencies, and licensure must be completed in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Associate, diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Nursing.
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
- Establish a compassionate environment and provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain patients’ optimum health.
- Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the patient medical record.
- Provide input into the development of policies and procedures that support patient safety and quality of care.
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel.
- Advocate for patients by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals.
- Complete required education, competencies, and licensure in a timely manner.
