Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical/Trauma unit at a short-term acute care Magnet and teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center. The unit provides geriatric trauma care for patients aged 55 and older, as well as trauma and acute care surgery services. Patients may come from the ED, OR, or ICU. The facility uses EPIC charting and requires clinicians to float within their scope to meet facility needs. Nurses may sign for 36 or 48 hours per week, and guaranteed hours are provided. The start date is approximately 3–4 weeks out, depending on compliance tier. The role includes care for patients with conditions and needs such as abuse or violence-related injuries, motor vehicle collisions, falls, appendicitis, gallbladder conditions, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, traumatic brain injuries, and orthopedic trauma. The position requires every-other-weekend work and does not include on-call duties. Block scheduling is not accommodated. No more than 7 days of requested time off are permitted per 13-week contract; when a shift is missed, nurses should make it up as soon as possible if able. The facility has 1,266 staffed beds. The required scrub color is navy blue. Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators. Parking fees and arrangements vary by shift and location; orientation parking at the Laclede Garage costs $15 and is not reimbursed.
