About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU (Critical Care) at Maryview Medical Center delivers nursing care to acutely ill and critically ill patients who require intensive medical care. The role assesses patient status, identifies and prioritizes patient problems and needs, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and carries out care plans to improve outcomes. The RN helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and uses clinical judgment to respond to changing patient conditions.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); certification must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS is required within 6 months of hire.
• For Pediatric Units, PALS is required in lieu of BLS/ACLS and must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required).
• 6 months of RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department unit.
• ACLS at hire.
• PALS at hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessments.
• Create and implement plans of care, then evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate, decisive, evidence-based, patient-focused action using clinical judgment and inquiry.
• Anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
