About The Position

Cottage Hospital’s Emergency Department is seeking a skilled, dedicated registered nurse. The department is staffed 24/7 by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained nursing staff, providing critical care to patients of all ages with a wide range of illnesses and injuries. As a Level IV Trauma Center, the team resuscitates and stabilizes patients in urgent situations.

The RN assists with planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care within the scope of registered nursing practice. The position requires providing age-appropriate care, applying knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, and assessing and interpreting patient-status data to identify age-specific care needs. Care must be delivered safely and efficiently in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit.
• Knowledge of principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
• Ability to assess patient-status data and interpret information to identify age-specific care requirements.
• Ability to provide care as described in the unit, area, or department’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care within the scope of practice.
• Provide appropriate care using relevant knowledge and skills, including care suited to patients’ ages and developmental needs.
• Assess patient-status data and interpret information to identify each patient’s age-specific requirements.
• Provide quality care efficiently and safely in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the assigned unit and organization.
• Resolve patient-care and departmental situations within the scope of responsibility and refer issues beyond that scope to appropriate individuals.
• Assist with data collection for research studies conducted in the work area.
