About The Position

The Vascular Access Team, formally known as IV Team, is a team of specialized registered nurses who place vascular access devices in patients across the entire AH Main campus. We are specially trained to thoroughly assess patients’ veins and place the most appropriate device for the best outcome. Our team consists of nurses from all backgrounds and experience levels that have been through our onboarding experience that focuses on competency with ultrasound and all vascular access practices, including PICC line placement. As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • 6 months of experience as a Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience.
  • Assess patients’ veins and place the most appropriate vascular access device.
  • Perform PICC line placement.
  • Competency with ultrasound and all vascular access practices.
