The Vascular Access Team (VAT) at Methodist and University Hospital provides specialized vascular access services. This team is composed of highly trained professionals skilled in the placement, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various vascular access devices, including peripheral IVs, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), midlines, and central lines. The primary objective of the Vascular Access Team is to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality vascular access for patients requiring intravenous therapy. This includes minimizing complications, reducing the need for repeated needle sticks, and improving overall patient comfort and outcomes. The Vascular Access Team aims to provide the highest standard of care by ensuring that vascular access procedures are performed with minimal discomfort and maximum safety. All efforts are carried out in conjunction with current standards of practice, with patient safety and vessel health and preservation in mind.
