Asian Health Services is a community health organization founded in 1974 that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 50,000 patients. Its whole-patient approach also addresses community needs such as food insecurity, youth leadership, culturally competent care, safer streets, and vibrant communities. Based at the Chenming & Margaret Hu Medical Center, the Registered Nurse works under general supervision to provide professional nursing care in a clinic setting. The role includes nursing triage and nurse visits; initiating, planning, and evaluating nursing care and treatment plans; and directing licensed and unlicensed clinic staff. The nurse assesses and prioritizes cases, provides medical advice and test results, makes complex referrals, and resolves complex issues raised by patients by telephone or walk-in. Other clinical work includes recording medical histories and physiological measurements, performing basic laboratory and nursing procedures, collecting and processing specimens, assisting with diagnostic tests and physician examinations, educating patients, providing skilled nursing treatment, administering or dispensing medications and injections, and conducting nurse visits. Administrative duties include maintaining and contributing to nursing protocols, participating in staff meetings and in-service education, coordinating daily clinic activities, orienting and directing clinic staff, maintaining and ordering clinical supplies and equipment, performing quality-control checks, and assisting with clinical programs such as tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and immunizations.
