About The Position

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is seeking a Registered Nurse, Triage to coordinate patient care requests by phone for all physicians and serve as a resource to staff. The role reviews incoming office faxes, answers pharmacy calls and medication refill requests, coordinates physician orders such as home health, hospice, and hospital orders, and handles emergency calls on the designated emergency line. The nurse also serves as a liaison between physicians and other facilities, and between physicians and patients.

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of Louisiana.
• BLS CPR certification required.
• Phone triage experience required.

Nice To Haves

• ONS/OCN certification highly preferred.
• Oncology or infusion nursing experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triage patient calls.
• Handle oral chemotherapy and medication orders.
• Coordinate patient care and documentation.
• Perform nursing duties.
• Serve as a resource for all staff.
• Review incoming faxes to the office.
• Answer pharmacy calls and medication refill requests.
• Coordinate physician orders, including home health, hospice, and hospital orders.
• Handle emergency calls on the designated emergency line.
• Serve as a liaison between physicians and other facilities, and between physicians and patients.
