About The Position

As a Registered Nurse Supervisor with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix, you will take charge of daily nursing operations that directly support the health of inmates. Your leadership will strengthen staff performance, increase efficiency, and maintain high care standards. You will be part of a dedicated team that values steady focus and decisive action. This position directs nursing staff and supports medical care for individuals with physical, behavioral, and developmental needs in a correctional environment.

Requirements

  • Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct nursing staff, provide orientation and training, and ensure coverage across all shifts
  • Implement care plans, administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with daily living needs
  • Assist with physical exams, chronic care visits, specialty clinics, and emergency medical response
  • Review medical records, prepare transfer reports, maintain controlled substance logs, and meet documentation deadlines
  • Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and maintain adequate treatment supplies
  • Participate in required trainings and stay updated on policy and procedure changes
