About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time, nights position on the Step Down unit in Clarksville. The Step Down unit is a 21-bed hardwired telemetry unit that cares for acutely ill but stable patients requiring closer monitoring. Patients have a variety of cardiac, vascular, and medical diagnoses, with specialized needs such as cardiac arrhythmias, bedside cardioversions, titrated medications, oxygenation management, withdrawal, sepsis, stroke, and post-operative care. The environment is challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented, and patient and family-centered. The unit emphasizes problem-solving, continuous learning, strong communication, and collaboration. Daily interdisciplinary rounds include providers, nurses, case managers, and nurse leaders. Each shift begins with a safety huddle. The nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within their scope of practice, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achieve desired outcomes, in accordance with hospital policies and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Tennessee.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIH

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
