About The Position

The Ahuja SDU is a 16 bed surgical and medical intermediate care floor. We care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs who have downgraded from a critical need but still need close monitoring. The team consists of highly skilled nurses, providers, advanced practice nurses, patient care assistants, and other ancillary staff who are dedicated to caring for patients and families. Our Step Down nurses are trained to care for cardiac patients post procedure, such as, post heart cath, post ablation, and post cath with TR Band. The team strives to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and families. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 to 4. Common Diagnoses include: Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Pre/Post heart cath, and Ablations, Vascular surgery, Thoracic surgery, Stemi, Sepsis, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Gastric bleeding, Overdose, and Alcohol Withdrawal. The role provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

• Diploma in Nursing or (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
• Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

• (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
• (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
