About The Position

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides specialized care for patients who require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than a medical-surgical floor but do not meet criteria for intensive care. Patients in this unit often present with complex cardiac, respiratory, and post-surgical conditions requiring continuous telemetry monitoring, frequent nursing assessments and interventions, advanced medication management and titration, and rapid response readiness. This unit serves as a critical step-down environment designed to stabilize patients and support recovery while maintaining close observation. The Registered Nurse (RN) in the IMC/PCU is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to acutely ill patients. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage complex patient conditions, and collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams.
