The Registered Nurse - SANE Program Lead will provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care to patients presenting after a sexual assault, addressing their physical and psychological needs. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, ensuring 24/7 RN SANE response coverage. The Lead will maintain a reporting structure to the Nursing Director, serve as a resource on state legislation, and ensure program compliance with the Sexual Assault Survivor Emergency Treatment Act (SASETA). Responsibilities include preparing and providing orientation, mentorship, and evaluation for RN SANE Program personnel, establishing annual competency and quality assurance goals, and partnering with Emergency Services leadership to develop and maintain the program budget. The Lead will also ensure RN SANEs receive timely information, prepare meeting minutes, collaborate on monthly on-call schedules, maintain supplies and equipment for forensic examinations, manage forensic photography, collect and manage data for quality assurance and SASETA reports, and participate in regional Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) meetings. Additionally, the role involves assisting RN SANEs with courtroom proceedings, collaborating with Legal and Risk teams, working with multidisciplinary teams, serving as an educator for hospital staff and community members, building relationships with community resource personnel, law enforcement, and EMS, and participating in community outreach and prevention initiatives. The Lead will promote regulatory compliance, high-quality patient care, patient safety, and a positive patient experience.
