About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Delivers individualized, age-specific, direct bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs. Acts as a supervisor by assessing, planning, delegating, and using independent judgment to direct other healthcare employees in providing patient care. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to identify patient goals, participates in hourly rounding, and observes safety guidelines and safe work practices. May be asked to be in charge for one or more shifts. The role includes assessing patients’ needs on admission and on an ongoing basis; determining nursing diagnoses; setting appropriate outcome goals; incorporating patient and family input; individualizing plans of care; and implementing nursing and medical orders while ensuring they are appropriate to the patient’s current status. Other tasks may be assigned at the hospital.

Requirements

Nursing degree from an accredited nursing school.
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona.
CPR certification.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above-average pressure.
Excellent customer service skills.
Basic computer skills.
ACLS upon completion of orientation for ER, ICU, Endoscopy, Tele, Cardiac Cath Lab, and L&D departments, as applicable by facility and department.
For ER: PALS or ENPC required, or must be obtained within 90 days.
For Post-partum, Nursery, and L&D: NRP required upon completion of orientation.
For Bariatrics: certification or specialized training in the bariatrics specialty area of practice.
For Wound Care: Wound-Ostomy Certification or training in wound care and/or ostomy care.
For L&D: Advanced Fetal Monitoring, or must obtain it within six months of hire.
For Level II EQ only: at least two years of current Level III NICU experience, including neonatal ventilator experience.

Nice To Haves

BSN.
One year of acute care experience; new graduates will also be considered.
Certification in the specialty area of practice.
For PACU: PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, cultural, safety/risk, and discharge-planning needs on admission and on an ongoing basis.
Determine nursing diagnoses based on patient assessment and data analysis.
Set practical, realistic, and appropriate outcome goals specific to the patient population.
Use patient and family input when appropriate and guide patients in achieving goals.
Individualize each patient’s plan of care according to patient needs and circumstantial or procedural complexities.
Implement nursing and medical orders and ensure they are appropriate to the patient’s current status.
Coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
Provide individualized, age-specific, direct bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs.
Assess, plan, delegate, and use independent judgment in directing other healthcare employees in providing patient care.
