Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics Clinic - St. Rita's Medical Center
About The Position
The Registered Nurse delivers patient care using the nursing process, including collecting data and assessing patients, prioritizing patient problems and needs, and evaluating the process and outcomes of nursing care. The nurse coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates care provided by health team members. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, the nurse conducts initial and ongoing assessments, analyzes assessment data, develops and implements plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness. The role includes safe medication administration consistent with state requirements and organizational policies, coordinating patient care across hospital departments, advocating for patient safety through ongoing quality improvement, and incorporating the professional practice model into care delivery.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license from the state of practice.
- Associate degree in nursing or a diploma in nursing.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification; required at hire for Roper St. Francis Healthcare locations, and preferred at hire and required before independent patient care at BSMH.
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations.
- Nursing judgment and skill based on biological, physical, behavioral, and social sciences.
- Ability to apply the nursing process in patient care delivery.
- Skills in coordinating patient care and evaluating professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes.
- Knowledge of health teaching, health promotion, patient advocacy, and partnership.
- Interprofessional collaboration and leadership skills.
- Ability to use office and clinical technologies.
- Compassionate, relationship-based approach to illness, suffering, pain, and existence.
- Ability to integrate quality improvement, evidence-based practices, and research into practice.

Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Analyze assessment data, create and implement plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with state requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
- Serve as a point of contact for patient care coordination throughout hospital departments.
- Participate in ongoing departmental quality improvement as a patient safety advocate.
