About The Position

This is a PRN position for a Registered Nurse in the Pre-Op, Circulating, and PACU departments. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting patient care according to established standards and policies. The nurse is accountable for the quality of nursing services, participates in direct patient care, and maintains a safe environment. The position requires 3-4 weeks of training Monday-Thursday before transitioning to PRN status. The hours are 6am/6:30am start time with 10-hour shifts, with no weekends, evenings, or call required.

  • Attendance: Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences. Observes assigned work schedules and hours.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required in the state where the worksite is located.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Proficient with printer, copier, telephone and fax.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, Telemetry or Operating Room.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct patient care in an individual Operating Room.
  • Ensure proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards of practice.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations and be knowledgeable of patient rights.
  • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license.
  • Supervise other personnel in the room and direct or assist as necessary.
  • Immediately report and document unusual occurrences to charge personnel.
  • Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.
  • Assess, prioritize, plan, and implement patient care in an effective manner.
  • Maintain medical records in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Participate in continuing education/in-service training, staff meetings, and Q.A.P.I. program.
  • Follow Physician orders and directions from management.
  • Actively participate in the development of a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training new staff when needed.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Recognize each department’s significance and work appropriately with other departments.
