Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit - Day Shift
About The Position
Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its 3B General Medical Unit. The unit is a 32-bed inpatient general medical unit with telemetry that provides scheduled and emergent care and procedures on a 24-hour basis. It serves adult and geriatric patients whose conditions range from fair to serious. Patients may be received, transferred, or admitted from home, the emergency department, physicians’ offices, and other hospital units. The unit cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses and needs, including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, alcohol or opioid withdrawal, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes management, and cellulitis. The available schedule is day shift, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; weekends and holidays are worked according to department guidelines.
Requirements
- Delaware RN license or compact nursing license.
- BSN, or commitment to obtaining a BSN within three years of hire.
- At least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide scheduled and emergent nursing care and procedures for patients on the 3B General Medical Unit.
- Care for adult and geriatric inpatients with a range of medical diagnoses and conditions.
- Provide care for patients with conditions including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, alcohol or opioid withdrawal, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes, and cellulitis.
