About The Position

Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its 32-bed 3B General Medical Unit. The unit provides inpatient general medical care with telemetry, including scheduled and emergent care and procedures on a 24-hour basis. Patients are adults and geriatric patients whose conditions range from fair to serious; they may be admitted or transferred from home, the emergency department, physician offices, or other hospital units.

The unit cares for patients with a variety of conditions, including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, alcohol or opioid withdrawal, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes, and cellulitis. The position is available for the day shift, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekends and holidays are worked according to department guidelines.

Requirements

• Delaware RN license or Compact Nursing License.
• BSN or commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
• At least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient general medical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients.
• Care for patients with a range of medical diagnoses and conditions, including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, alcohol or opioid withdrawal, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain, altered mental status, osteomyelitis, back pain, diabetes, and cellulitis.
• Provide scheduled and emergent care and procedures in a telemetry-equipped unit.
