Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Telemetry Unit - Memorial Regional Medical Center
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg position in the Medical Telemetry Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit cares for patients with renal conditions requiring dialysis, COPD, UTI, sepsis, and other general medical diagnoses; patients frequently receive cardiac telemetry. The role is described as a great entry point into nursing. The nurse assesses patient status, implements clinical nursing interventions, develops and performs patient care plans, and works to improve outcomes while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. The position collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team and administers care in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- One year of RN experience.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification preferred upon hire; it must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, document in charts, and assess patient condition.
- Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
- Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses and implement clinical nursing interventions.
- Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
- Help ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
