About The Position

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role involves assessing patient status, applying organizational and leadership skills, implementing clinical nursing interventions, and using a diverse medical skillset. The RN develops and carries out patient care plans to improve outcomes and ensures a safe, therapeutic environment. The position is on the Med/Surg Unit at St. Francis Downtown and works nights, with 36 scheduled hours per week. A sign-on bonus of up to $7,500 is available for experienced RNs.

Requirements

• One year of RN experience.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, chart, and assess patient condition.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
