About The Position

This position is dedicated to 50% triage, supporting the Spine Anesthesia/ Pain group as well as 50% dedicated to supporting our intrathecal pain pump patient population. The individual for this role will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals receiving intrathecal pain or spasticity management therapy. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program .
  • Current Ohio Registered Nurse license.
  • CPR/BLS certified.
  • Knowledge of triage procedures along with clinic, physician office and/or urgent care experience.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids.
  • Ability to educate and clearly communicate with patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
  • Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Analytical ability and critical thinking to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions

Responsibilities

  • Manage intrathecal pump therapy for patients with chronic pain or spasticity.
  • Assist with pump refills, reprogramming, and troubleshooting in coordination with prescribing providers.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on pump function, and signs of adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Document all care activities, assessments, and communications accurately and in a timely manner in electronic medical records.
  • Provide skilled nursing services to patients under the direction of a physician or midlevel provider, and provides a variety of related services to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient,
  • Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain the expected outcomes,
  • Implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of the outcomes,
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
  • Perform professional nursing work of considerable difficulty including the care of patients as outlined by physicians and the objectives and policies of the organization.
  • Provide patient and family health education and health assessment.
