About The Position

5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit. We are a Med-Surg Unit with heavy surgical volume. We specialize in Elective bariatric weigh loss surgery, General surgery (appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc.), Foot and ankle ortho (total ankle replacements and infected foot wounds, BKA's etc.), and Urology surgery. A Nurse on our Unit will gain experience in drains of all kinds, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, and all surgical things! Atrium Health Mercy, a 196-bed facility of Carolinas Medical Center, is one of two Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) locations and is 1.3 miles from CMC. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in Med-Surg nursing.
  • Experience with surgical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise post-surgical patients on a General Surgery specialty unit.
  • Provide care for patients undergoing bariatric, general, foot and ankle, and urology surgeries.
  • Gain experience in managing drains, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, and DHT.
