About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor Post-Surgical role is a full-time position on the 5 North General Surgery specialty unit at Atrium Health Mercy. This 26-bed Med-Surg unit handles a high surgical volume, specializing in bariatric weight loss surgery, general surgery (appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstructions), foot and ankle orthopedic surgery, and urology surgery. Nurses on this unit will gain experience with various medical devices and procedures such as drains, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, and DHT. Atrium Health Mercy is a 196-bed facility, part of Carolinas Medical Center, and is recognized as a Planetree Designated facility, emphasizing patient-centered care, partnership, and evidence-based improvement. It is also Magnet designated in Nursing Excellence. Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience in a Med-Surg setting with heavy surgical volume.
- Ability to manage patients with various surgical needs.
- Proficiency in handling drains, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, and DHT.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with elective bariatric weight loss surgery patients.
- Experience with foot and ankle orthopedic surgery.
- Experience with urology surgery.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care on a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit.
- Manage patients undergoing bariatric weight loss surgery, general surgery, foot and ankle orthopedic surgery, and urology surgery.
- Gain experience with drains of all kinds, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, and DHT.
- Supervise nursing activities on the unit.
