Maria Parham is home to the region’s largest and most comprehensive Emergency Department, staffed 24/7 by board-certified emergency physicians, experienced nurses, and highly trained support staff dedicated to delivering exceptional emergency care. With 20 treatment beds, the department is equipped to meet a wide range of emergency healthcare needs. Our teams combine advanced training with compassionate service to be ready for you or your family when you need it the most.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
- PALS and ACLS (required)
- Two years of RN experience (required)
- Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
Responsibilities
- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities.
- Documents patient care provided
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care including transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
- Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition and circumstances.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
- Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
- Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
- Performs timely and accurate QI assessments
