About The Position

The Post-Partum unit at Wilson Medical Center provides comprehensive care to mothers and newborns following delivery. Our team supports recovery, education, and family-centered care while collaborating closely with Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and interdisciplinary partners. Nurses in this department play a key role in postpartum assessments, newborn care, patient education, and ensuring a safe transition home for more than 800 families annually.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
Current RN license to practice in the state of NC
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree preferred
One year of experience preferred

Responsibilities

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors
Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family
Formulates individualized plans of care and revises them based on patient response
Completes and updates the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
Evaluates learning needs of patients and families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, and condition
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge planning, referrals, and psychosocial support
Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients while protecting patient rights
Demonstrates strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment
