About The Position
This is a temporary, part-time (0.4 FTE) Registered Nurse position focused on pediatric school care. The role involves providing holistic, person-centred care to children and youth within the school calendar year (September to June), with an option to renew. The nurse will work autonomously, practice to their full scope, and build meaningful connections with clients. The position is ideal for a nurse who is empathetic, adaptable, and possesses excellent judgment, and enjoys working with children. The role requires driving and involves working in clients' homes, clinics, virtually, and engaging in community outreach. VON Canada is a not-for-profit organization with over 125 years of experience in home and community care.
Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the province of practice
- Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required; a Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may also be necessary

Responsibilities
- Client assessments to develop individual care plans
- Provide primary care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
- Simple and advanced wound care, including complex and negative pressure wounds
- Chronic Disease Management, e.g. diabetes care and education
- IV therapy and CVAD management
- Phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Dialysis Management
- Rehabilitative programs
- Palliative and End of Life Care
- Medication management
- Other critical nursing skills
