About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a High Acuity Unit at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. This is a training opportunity focused on the High Acuity Nursing Specialty Program. The role involves practicing in accordance with professional standards and ethical codes, providing care to acutely ill patients with complex conditions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. The High Acuity Unit is a specialized, closed unit within the Critical Care platform, offering a dynamic environment to care for a diverse patient population and enhance clinical expertise. Requirements

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Approximately one year recent acute medical/surgical experience upon high acuity program start date.
  • Successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.

Responsibilities

  • Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics for registered nurses as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a client and family centred care model and the vision and values of the organization.
  • Provides nursing care to acutely ill patients with complex, acute and often co-existing chronic illnesses both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.
  • Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care givers.
  • Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice.
  • Maintains and advances clinical competence.
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
