This is a training opportunity focused on the BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program. The role involves practicing within a patient and family-centered care model, adhering to BCCNM standards. Responsibilities include providing emergency nursing to patients of all ages with diverse symptoms in an uncontrolled environment, acting as a triage nurse to assess and prioritize care, and serving as a member of the emergency response team for multi-trauma and disaster situations. The role also involves enhancing patient/family quality of life, consulting with other healthcare givers, demonstrating expertise and leadership, maintaining clinical competence, and participating in committees and research. The Richmond Hospital ED is a high-volume department seeing over 70,000 patients annually, with a focus on teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning. Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with VCH as a regular status nurse for at least 18 months post-training, or VCH will seek to recover program costs.
