The Cardiothoracic OR RN will support the RRMC Cardiothoracic surgery program. This role is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings within the Perioperative Services Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. This role is responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with them to ensure optimum patient care. The RN must demonstrate competence in dealing with age-related needs of specific patient populations served in the Perioperative Services units/departments. This position works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. This role is expected to float among other RHS facilities and perform like competencies of their primary role. Team members will be expected to stay late to complete cases as needed. The RN must maintain competencies unique to Cardiothoracic surgery, including assisting, anticipating, scrubbing, and preparing for complex Cardiothoracic surgery cases. This role is responsible for high acuity, advanced Cardiothoracic surgery open, minimally invasive, and robotics. This position involves collaboration with the UVA affiliation.
