The Cardiothoracic OR RN will support the RRMC Cardiothoracic surgery program. This role is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The RN may work in various settings within the Perioperative Services Complex and across Riverside Health System. Utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, the RN creates a care plan for each patient, considering physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The role includes supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care and requires demonstrated competence in addressing the age-related needs of patient populations served in Perioperative Services. Working under the direction of leadership and a multidisciplinary team, the RN provides comprehensive services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence, goals, and strategic plans. This position is expected to float among RHS facilities and perform similar competencies. Team members may be required to stay late to complete cases. The RN must maintain competencies specific to Cardiothoracic surgery, including assisting, anticipating, scrubbing, and preparing for complex cases. Responsibilities include high acuity, advanced Cardiothoracic surgery open, minimally invasive, and robotic procedures. This role involves collaboration with the UVA affiliation.
