Our 36-bed behavioral health unit offers a continuum of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health. On our team you will serve as the psychiatric nurse for an adult inpatient unit on night shift, providing clinical leadership and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in a high-acuity setting. Oversee and support psychiatric technicians, coordinating unit activities, monitoring patient safety, and responding to crises or behavioral escalations as needed. Act as the clinical decision-maker overnight, collaborating with on-call providers and maintaining compliance with policies, standards, and continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous Behavioral Health Experience Required

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
