About The Position

The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Per Diem PRN shifts. This is an opportunity to join the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in the Central Kentucky area, which has been providing behavioral health services for over 39 years. The hospital is a 110-bed facility offering psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, including Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, and Medication Management. The role involves accurate and timely completion of patient admissions, assessments, orders, treatment plans, property inventories, nutritional screenings, progress notes, patient education, and safe medication administration. It also requires providing appropriate crisis intervention, anticipating and responding to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques, prioritizing safety, and using counseling skills such as active listening, appropriate tone and volume, positive reinforcement, maintaining boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.

Responsibilities

Accurately and timely completes the following duties: new patient admissions, assessment, orders, treatment plan, property inventory, nutritional screening, progress note, patient education, safe and efficient medication administration.
Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.
