About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Renal Dialysis department at Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN. The position is full-time, days, and includes a sign-on bonus. The nurse will manage specialized Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) therapies, deliver expert acute med-surg and post-operative care, execute medical and nephrology care plans, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and empower patients and caregivers through education.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Manage specialized Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) therapies by safely performing manual or automated exchanges, maintaining sterile technique, and assessing catheter sites to deliver life-sustaining care and prevent infection (such as peritonitis).
Deliver expert acute med-surg and post-operative care by conducting rigorous clinical assessments, managing pain and surgical wounds, and closely monitoring fluid and electrolyte status to promote smooth post-surgical recoveries.
Execute medical and nephrology care plans by precisely carrying out physician orders, administering medications, and tracking subtle changes in patient conditions to ensure rapid, high-quality interventions.
Coordinate holistic, multidisciplinary care with nephrologists, surgeons, dietitians, and discharge planners to guide seamless transitions, optimize long-term renal health, and support safe discharge home.
Empower patients and caregivers through hands-on education regarding PD home routines, medication regimens, and post-surgical recovery care to build independence and confidence.
