About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This position collects data on patient medical/surgical history, medication history, and current prescribed treatment. This position collaborates with multidiscipline in order to optimally prepare the patient for their surgery/procedure.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required or Associates Degree Nursing Required
  • 1 year Nursing experience in an acute care, perioperative, or medical office setting Required
  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Knowledge of perioperative and anesthesia‑related nursing considerations.
  • Strong assessment, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to analyze medical information and identify potential surgical or anesthesia risks.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive pre operative nursing assessments, including review of medical history, medications, diagnostics, and anesthesia related risk factors.
  • Identifies findings requiring further evaluation and coordinates escalation with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other specialties as needed.
  • Provides pre operative education to patients and families regarding procedure preparation, medications, arrival instructions, and post operative expectations.
  • Reviews and verifies completion of required pre operative documentation, including consents, laboratory results, diagnostic testing, and outside records.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized pre operative plans of care and ensure patient readiness for surgery.
  • Maintains accurate, timely documentation and demonstrates sound clinical judgment to prioritize care, support safe perioperative outcomes, and comply with policies and licensure requirements.
