Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia (Nursing)
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients recovering from anesthesia. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in the specialty. The unit is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and covers cases including Thoracic, Orthopedic, Neurology, Vascular, Urology, and General surgery. Higher acuity cases are handled on this unit. The unit is overseen by a Charge Nurse and Supervisor. Holiday coverage is expected, including working 2 major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve).
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing.
- Required AHA ACLS certification.
- Required AHA BLS certification.
- NIHSS Certification.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to patients recovering from anesthesia.
- Monitor patient vital signs and condition post-operatively.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Work holidays as scheduled, including 2 major and 1 minor holiday.
