The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a 22-bed unit where nearly all patients who have received general anesthesia come to recover after their surgery. This role involves a patient ratio of 2:1 and presents daily challenges related to acuity and patient flow. The position is full-time, with 3 x 12-hour shifts during the night. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit. This includes assessing, planning, organizing, providing, and evaluating nursing care using the nursing process and critical thinking. The nurse makes nursing judgments and decisions and assumes responsibility for nursing care and documentation.
