About The Position

South Kansas City Surgicenter is seeking a part-time PACU Registered Nurse to join its growing, close-knit and collaborative operating room team. The nurse is an essential member of the perioperative team and advocates for patients receiving anesthesia and/or sedation. The role delivers and coordinates post-operative patient care within the PACU scope of services, working with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other personnel to maintain standards of care and support efficient patient flow.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Previous critical care or PACU experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience as a Circulating Nurse, PACU RN, Operating Room Nurse, or Surgical Nurse is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all patients within the PACU scope of services.
• Coordinate post-operative patient care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
• Direct and guide other personnel while maintaining PACU standards of care.
• Communicate changes in a patient’s clinical condition to the physician, including hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic study results, abnormal results, and symptomatology.
• Work with other departments and co-workers to provide quality care across the continuum, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance and organization.
• Adhere to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services.
• Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
