About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Operating Room (OR) at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Templeton, California. The assignment is temporary, lasting 13 weeks, with a start date of 09/14/2026. The role involves circulating during surgical procedures, maintaining patient safety, preparing patients for surgery, operating OR equipment, documenting care, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of practice (California)
  • ADN or equivalent required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience; at least 1 year of operating room circulating experience
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification required; PALS preferred
  • EPIC experience required
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Ability to work a Mon-Fri rotating schedule with 4x10-hour shifts; on-call 1-2 nights per week and 1 weekend per month

Responsibilities

  • Circulate during surgical procedures; assist surgeons and anesthesia providers; coordinate flow of equipment, supplies, and staff.
  • Maintain patient safety throughout the perioperative phase; participate in planning, assessment, and nursing treatment.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, position appropriately, and monitor intraoperative status; support sterile technique and instrument handling.
  • Safely operate OR equipment, manage specimens and tissue handling per policy; dispose of biohazardous materials as required.
  • Document care and procedures in the electronic medical record (EPIC); retrieve pertinent patient information as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with environment of care, life safety, emergency readiness, and regulatory standards within the OR.
