Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR): Outpatient Surgery Center

This Registered Nurse role within UVA Health’s Outpatient Surgery Centers allows you to practice in an OR environment while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. As a Registered Nurse in UVA Health’s Outpatient Surgery Centers, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties in a focused outpatient environment. This role balances efficiency with clinical rigor and allows nurses to deliver high-quality care in settings intentionally designed for safety, flow, and patient experience.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous Operating Room nursing experience
- Experience in multiple surgical specialties
- Scrub and circulate experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver perioperative nursing care including preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative recovery
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and fellow nurses to ensure safe and seamless procedures
- Apply evidence-based practice and standardized protocols to support patient safety and optimal outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and professional standards
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
