This position provides ongoing care for patients in an oncology setting, assessing their needs, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes. The Registered Nurse will also assess educational needs and provide teaching and counseling to patients and their families, integrating health promotion and preventive care. The role involves assuming primary responsibility for a caseload, anticipating changes in patient status, determining care priorities, and updating care plans as needed. Communication with physicians is crucial for confirming and updating patient care plans, and regular status updates are required. The nurse will maintain accurate patient records, provide telephone consultation and triage, and participate in community education and quality improvement activities. Assisting in staff orientation and educational activities is also part of the role. The nurse must adhere to agency policies and procedures and continuously strive to advance their clinical skills and knowledge in the specialty area, including pursuing certification. The position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding principles of growth and development, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
