About The Position

Requirements

  • Active RN license in good standing (Vermont licensure or eligibility per state requirements)
  • Certifications: BLS and NRP required; AHA ACLS preferred
  • Experience: minimum 2 years in a newborn/mother-baby specialty; prior travel experience highly preferred
  • Education: RN degree from an accredited program (exact degree level as required for licensure)
  • Skills: EPIC (EMR) experience within the past 2 years; ability to work in a large teaching or high-acuity facility; comfortable with rotating day/night shifts
  • Additional: Must have reliable transportation; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment with occasional weekend coverage; willingness to rotate to days if needed and to float as required by unit needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for newborns and support mothers in the newborn nursery and couplet care environment
  • Perform newborn assessments, monitor vitals, and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, following hospital protocols
  • Collaborate with the care team (physicians, lactation consultants, and ancillary staff) to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
  • Document care in EPIC and ensure accurate handoffs during shift changes
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, infection control, and quality standards; participate in unit orientation and quality improvement activities as assigned
